Hello Fellow Dreamwidth Members,
I'm a very young 60 years old have been married for the last 34 years. My three grown children consider me extremely eccentric, but I don't notice it myself. Now that the kids have houses of their own to mess up and the cat and dog are dead, I have time to explore new interests.
Writing is something I have enjoyed since elementary school. I wrote my first novel, a substantial work of eleven pages, in the sixth grade. I've written poetry, short stories, and essays. I published my first short story a couple of years ago. I'm now working on the outline for a fantasy novel. How much I get done depends on how fried I get at school.
I didn't tell you that I've been a school psychologist for the last 38 years. It was supposed to be a temporary measure until I got my loans paid off and got the writing career off the ground. Right now I'm working in an urban high school and every day is an adventure. I entertain my friends with stories about what goes on at school.
I'm a member of the local Storyteller's Guild and just gave my first performance. I love to make the audience laugh.
I take my spiritual life very seriously. I'm an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church USA and am in charge of adult education for our congregation.
I was outraged when my gay friends in California lost the right to marry and took part in my first protest since the Viet Nam War. It was wonderful. I've since joined PFLAG and intend to be active in getting legislation passed to give my gay and lesbian friends in Oregon the right to marry.
I'm looking forward to reading what other dreamwidth members write and what they have to say about my own efforts.
